Get Your Putts Rolling Correctly

You hit a driver on a slight upswing, you compress the ball with your iron shots and you should try to impart ‘top spin’ when you putt. So if you are not getting the ball rolling nicely on the greens then try the following drill.

Here’s a great drill to help create that ‘top spin’ and get those putts rolling properly. Place the ball slightly in front of the ball locator, (shown above). Now make your putting stroke, missing the locator and hitting the ball slightly on the up stroke, imparting that top spin and achieving a great roll (photos 1-3 in PDF below). Your putts will roll better across the green and end up in the hole more often.
